Receipts are emailed automatically after each donation. Please keep these for your tax records—donations to GECI (EIN 87-3528034) are fully tax-deductible under IRS guidelines for 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations. GECI currently serves elders in and around Nekemte, in Ethiopia’s Oromia Region. Programs are implemented with local volunteers and community partners familiar with participants and local conditions.
Local representatives document monthly distributions and program activities. GECI’s U.S. leadership and board review financial and program information and follow up on unusual or incomplete items.
Local representatives work with community leaders and volunteers to identify elders facing the greatest hardship. Factors considered include food insecurity, housing conditions, homelessness, income, health limitations, family support, and access to other assistance.
One-time donations are absolutely welcome and make a real difference! They help us provide immediate assistance to elderly in crisis situations—emergency shelter, urgent medical care, or home repairs. Every contribution, whether monthly or one-time, directly supports our mission.
Your monthly sponsorship primarily ensures your elderly has nutritious meals throughout the month. However, GECI operates four comprehensive programs to address the full range of needs our elders face:
