WHO WE ARE
Grace Elderly Care International (GECI) is a volunteer-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit supporting vulnerable older adults in Nekemte, Ethiopia. We serve elders facing hunger, homelessness, unsafe housing, and social isolation.
Since 2021, GECI has provided assistance to more than 100 elders. Today, 100 elders receive monthly support through our local community partnersh
THE CRISIS WE’RE SOLVING
Many older adults in Ethiopia live without a reliable income, adequate food, safe housing, or family support. Age and limited mobility make it especially difficult for them to obtain food, healthcare, and other necessities. GECI focuses on elders in Nekemte who have few or no other sources of assistance.
These are grandparents who spent decades building their communities and caring for others. They deserve dignity, security, and compassion in their final years.
This is why elderly care in Ethiopia is urgently needed.
HOW WE HELP
GECI serves Ethiopia’s most vulnerable elders through four integrated programs:
MONTHLY CASH ALLOWANCES
A $20 monthly cash allowance helps an elder purchase food and other essential items while preserving personal choice and dignity.
HOME REPAIRS
We work with local volunteers and community partners to make essential repairs to unsafe or severely deteriorated homes.
TEMPORARY SHELTER
We help connect homeless elders with temporary shelter and essential support while longer-term solutions are explored.
VOLUNTEER MOBILIZATION
Local volunteers identify elders in need, coordinate assistance, monitor their well-being, and provide companionship and community connection.
