Elderly sponsorship is flexible—you can cancel anytime. While you’re free to adjust your commitment based on your circumstances, we encourage monthly sponsors to commit for at least 6-12 months when possible. Consistent support allows us to plan effectively and provides stability for the elderly we serve. If your circumstances change, we completely understand; we’re grateful for whatever support you can provide.
Receipts are emailed automatically after each donation. Please keep these for your tax records—donations to GECI (EIN 87-3528034) are fully tax-deductible under IRS guidelines for 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations. GECI serves elderly individuals in Oromia Region, Nekemte Town, focusing on communities where no other aid organizations provide support. We work in partnership with local volunteers who know these communities best and can identify the most vulnerable elders.
We work directly with trusted local volunteers and community partners in Ethiopia who identify eligible elders and distribute monthly support. Our board includes two Certified Public Accountants who provide rigorous financial oversight. Additionally, we maintain Candid’s Platinum Seal of Transparency, the highest rating for nonprofit accountability. Our 95% program efficiency rate means virtually all of your donation goes directly to serving elders.
We work with local community leaders and volunteers in Ethiopia to identify the most vulnerable elderly individuals—those facing severe malnutrition, homelessness, or complete isolation without family support. Priority is given to elderly people with the greatest need and fewest resources.
One-time donations are absolutely welcome and make a real difference! They help us provide immediate assistance to elderly in crisis situations—emergency shelter, urgent medical care, or home repairs. Every contribution, whether monthly or one-time, directly supports our mission.
Your monthly sponsorship primarily ensures your elderly has nutritious meals throughout the month. However, GECI operates four comprehensive programs to address the full range of needs our elders face:
Monthly Cash Allowances (funded by sponsorships like yours)
Home Repairs (funded by designated donations and grants)
Temporary Shelter (funded by general donations)
Volunteer Coordination (supported by all donations)
